I had a big long post ready on some random subject, but then I came home and found out former President Reagan had died. While I understand the pseudo-intelligent thing to do is criticize him, I can't because I liked him. And not just because I'm a Republican. He was witty, optimistic, smart, adaptable, strong, a great politican and one of the last presidents who truly loved America and Americans. People can criticize all they want about his policies, and illustrate the negatives of his presidency, but his greatest scandal occured because he and his people were trying to save American hostages. If we weren't parents of young babies we'd make the trip down to DC, even if it was like the viewing in L.A.
In 1994, with his courageous letter, he also put a face to one of the most terrible diseases of our time, Alzheimer's. That's more than worth some reflective words and moments of silence.
