The Movie Post

The Movie Post

I did one of those book posts so I figured I'd do a movie one. This one isn't anything I was tagged for since I made it up, but feel free to toss in your own movie favorites.

First Movie I Ever Saw In A Theatre: Clash of the Titans (I was five and it scared the bejeezus out of me.)

First DVD I Ever Bought: Top Gun

Last DVD I Bought: Toy Story (10th Anniversary Edition)

Favorite Porn: Okay don't laugh but it's Chasey Loves R0cco. Yes, I know that's an old one. I just dig on Chasey Lain and she doesn't have that beat up porn star look in that one. Don't worry, I have my new-fangled porn DVDs too.

Favorite Movie Soundtrack: Amadeus
Favorite Movie Soundtrack (Original Score): Last of the Mohicans

5 Favorite Action Movies:
Top Gun
Under Siege
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
Die Hard
Desperado

5 Favorite Martial Arts Movies:
A Man Called Hero
House of Flying Daggers
Fist of Legend
Storm Riders
Lord of the Wu-Tang

5 Favorite Dramas:
Tombstone
Man On Fire
Lord of the Rings: Return of the King
Gone With The Wind
The Shawshank Redemption

5 Favorite Sports Movies
Remember The Titans
The Replacements (I'm loathe to admit it but I haven't seen Any Given Sunday though Geo and I use that particular phrase to cheer on our teams every week. Maybe I'll watch it this weekend.)
Mystery, Alaska
Major League
Rocky IV (Yes, I know that essentially Rocky is the better movie but that fight scene with Ivan Drago is awesome)

5 Favorite Comedies:

The Princess Bride
Dogma
Elf
Spaceballs
Eurotrip

5 Favorite (Non-Martial Arts) Foreign Films
(How come theirs are "films" and ours are "movies")
Life Is Beautiful
Amelie
Like Water For Chocolate
Babette's Feast
The Killer

5 Favorite Kids Movies:
The Incredibles
Finding Nemo
The Black Stallion (This used to say Toy Story 2 but I just watched The Black Stallion and had to change it. It was my favorite movie as a kid.)
Matilda
Beauty and the Beast

5 Favorite Chick Flicks:

Ever After
Steel Magnolias
Simply Irresistible
Never Been Kissed
Tea With Mussolini (Not really a chick flick but couldn't think of another actual "chick flick." I mean 90% of them pretty much suck.)

5 Movies I Always End Up Watching When They're On TV
The Green Mile
The Cutting Edge
Girst Just Want To Have Fun
Ghostbusters
Sister Act (I know, of all the random movies)

5 Movies People Make Fun Of Me For Liking
The 13th Warrior
Armageddon (Lani loves this one too though so I'm not alone)
The Mummy
Independence Day
Jurassic Park 3

5 Movies I Want To See When They Come Out:
The Chronicles of Narnia
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Legend of Zorro (Oh come on, you knew this was going to be here.)
Ghost Rider (I watch all comic book adaptation movies. Except Catwoman. I didn't think I'd be able to stomach Catwoman.)
Memoirs of a Geisha (Though I don't think anyone in the movie is actually Japanese.)

The last three movies I saw on video were Sin City, Ong-Bak: The Thai Warrior and Kung-Fu Hustle. All three were actually really good. My litmus test for movies being good is whether or not I hit pause when I need to use the bathroom or get a sandwich. Because you know, if the movie sucks then I try to kill time with other things until it ends. Like when Mike J made me watch that godawful movie about inbreeding (Wrong Turn) I must have gotten up to pee and get more water about 80 times (which worked out nicely). If I had to recommend one above the others it would be Ong-Bak. The actor in it, Tony Jaa, is amazing. The back of the DVD says something to the effect that Jaa performs his own stunts, acrobatics that would scare Jackie Chan. I thought they were exaggerating until I saw the movie. The guy can leap over cars like they were skateboards. It's insanity. He's not as hot but he officially replaces Mark Dacascos (who is disqualified because of his loser role as the chairman on Iron Chef America) on my laminated Top Five list. Tony Jaa could kill you with THIS *holding up a gum wrapper*
